A shielded cable is an electrical cable of one or more insulated conductors enclosed by a common conductive layer. The shield may be composed of braided strands of copper (or other metal, such as aluminium), a non-braided spiral winding of copper tape, or a layer of conducting polymer. Usually this shield is covered with a jacket. The shield acts as a Faraday cage to reduce electrical noise from affecting the signals, and to reduce electromagnetic radiation that may interfere with other devices. (For more, see electromagnetic interference). The shield minimizes capacitively coupled noise from other electrical sources. The shield must be applied across cable splices.
In shielded signal cables the shield may act as the return path for the signal, or may act as screening only.
XLPE/PVC shielded low voltage power cable:
Control cables are used in the site of control circuit, monitoring circuit and protective lines that have A.C rated voltage of 600/1000 V and below.
2. Manufacturing Standards
The control cable comply well with IEC 60227, IEC60502, IEC 60332-3, IEC 60754-1 and IEC 61034 etc.
3. Operating Features for XLPE/PVC Insulated PVC Sheath Copper Conductor Armoured Shielded Control Power Cable:
•The maximum allowable temperature of conductor is 90°C for XLPE cable or 70°C for PVC cable at normal operation.
•The temperature not less than 0°C when cables laid.
•Installation bending radius of cable: 6D for no-armor or with screen layer flexible cable.
12D for armor or copper tape screen cables.

4. Construction for XLPE/PVC Insulated PVC Sheath Copper Conductor Armoured Shielded Control
Generally speaking, there are two ways of copper wires braided screen and copper tape wrapped screen for control cables, however, copper wires braided screen has stable structure, the effect of screen won’t change with the cable bending or appearance factors etc , but also doesn’t have influence on cables’ flexibility, braiding density can reach over 80%, besides, copper tape wrapped screen percentage of coverage can reach up to 100%.
Plastic PVC Insulated Screened control Cables are used for rated voltage up to and including 450/750V.
The long-term operating temperature of PVC insulation cable conductor should be lower than 70°C,and that of XLPE insulation should be lower than 90°C.
The installing ambient temperature of cables shouldn’t be lower than 0°C,the Min. bending radius of installing is 6 times of the outer diameter.
