Can the copper wire be repaired?
Answer:
yes. the wire is enameled. just burn it off with a lighter, then twist together and tape it off. I cut mine into 5 pieces and tired them all together in the
center to light up branches on my tree.

Is there an off switch that can be used to keep them from coming on automatically each night?
Answer:
Yes, if left "on" they will automatically turn on and off. If switched to "off"
they will not turn on.
